Fieldcrest Men Active In YMCA Project G. William Moore, president of Field- crest Mills, Inc., is honorary general Jhairman of the New YMCA building luiid campaign, with W. D. Lashley, Jr., general chairman. Richmond R. Roberts, vice president- finance and treasurer, and Paul L. Peter- son, ai-g coordinators of the community- ^ide campaign. They will be responsi- for liaison between the general 'Chairmen and the remainder of the 'campaign organization. Robert A. Harris, vice president- *'^3nufacturing, is chairman of the cam paign in Fieldcrest plants and offices. Division chairmen are L. H. Hance, vice president-research and engineer ing; A. L. Jackson, vice president- domestics manufacturing; W. R. Kiser, director of industrial engineering; F. W. Klein, vice president-rug manufactur ing; H. H. Lea, vice president-raw materials purchasing and traffic; and H. H. Newton, vice president-indu.strial relations. The mill managers and heads of staff departments will lead the campaign in their respective mills and staff areas. Named Foreman Gilbert C. MAYS T Fund Campaign To Begin In Mills (Continued from Page One) to all Fieldcrest employees in the Eden area. Solicitations at Fieldcrest will start today (Monday) among members of general management, mill management, heads of major staff departments, fore men, assistant foremen, and staff su pervisors. The solicitation among production, staff and clerical employees will be conducted one week later under the leadership of the mill managers and the heads of staff departments. The goal at Fieldcrest is to have each employee pledge an amount equal to “three minutes a day” as a minimum contribution. The pledge can be paid in small in stallments through payroll deductions for a three-year period. The payroll deductions will not start until January 1, 1970. A number of valuable prizes will be awarded in drawings among those who pledge at least “three minutes a day”. Details concerning the prizes are car ried in a separate article in today’s Mill Whistle. 3 MINUTES A DAY FOR THE YMCA Support the New YMCA Building Fund Campaign JESSE M. BURTON JIMMY D. HUFFMAN Burton, Huffman Receive High Honors Two Fieldcresters have been elected high officers in Y’s Men’s International. Jesse M. Burton, assistant production control manager at the Blanket Ware house, was elected an international di rector, becoming the top-ranking offi cer of a three-district region. Jimmy D. Huffman, purchasing agent- expense supplies, was elected governor of the Piedmont District, embracing North Carolina and Virginia, which is the largest district in the region. Other honors have come to Mr. Bur ton and Mr. Huffman as co-editors of “Word to the Y’s”, the bulletin of the Leaksville-Spray Y’s Men’s Club. Their publication was named one of the 25 Honor Bulletins 1968-69, the second time that it has won honors as one of the top Y’s Men’s bulletins in the world. GNDAY, august 11, 1969
