Karastan 25-Year Club members chat prior to start of program. H. T. Lee, 50-year man, is presented gift by ■ 25-Yr. Club Meet Held The tremendous growth of the Kar astan operation is due to the quality and dedication of its people, Walter B. Guinan, president of the Karastan Mar keting Division and a senior vice pres ident of Fieldcrest Mills, told Kara stan members of the 25-Year Club at their annual meeting Saturday, October 28, in the Burton Grove School audi torium. “You people make the finest carpet in the world and each year Karastan’s reputation becomes more renowned. This is not an accident but is the result of planning,” Mr. Guinan said. He praised the manufacturing and sales organizations of Karastan, em phasizing that it is the characteristics of its people that make a company a suc cess. He reviewed activities in the mar keting division and showed some of the newest products of Karastan. John G. Cunningham, plant manag- er-greige and finishing, was the master of ceremonies and opened the meeting by recognizing various special groups. Recognition was given to the retired members of the club, the members with 40 or more years of continuous service and several husband-and-wife combin ations who are members of the club. He also recognized Hugh T. Lee, re tired member of the club who had more than 50 years of continuous ser vice at the time of his retirement. Mr. Lee was presented a gift. Mr. Cunningham read a letter from J. M. Norman, Jr., retired manager of Karastan, who was in Florida and could not be present for the meeting. Jones W. Norman, area personnel manager, presented 27 new members. Talking over old times. J. Paul Kitchens, division vice presi dent-rug and carpet manufacturing, de scribed the capital program for Kara stan in 1972-73 and said the improve ments will give the m,ill capabilities to make new products and to increase the capacity in existing lines He expressed his pride in the Kara stan employees and the products they produce. He said that Karastan’s busi ness is good and that the outlook for the future is optimistic. John R. Mauney, division vice presi dent and general manager of Karastan Rug manufacturing, Eden, gave high lights of mill operations. He asked the 25-Year Club members to “help to train and inspire the new employees coming into the organization.” He expressed appreciation for the contribution the long-service employees have made to the business and said that the 25-Year Club members can “greatly influence and encourage those now joining the Karastan Mill.” In the drawings for the attendance prizes, conducted by William Balsef and Wilfred Stultz, prizes were award ed to Elsie H. Carter, Supply Room; Ola Walker, Setting Department; and Tula Knight, Winding Department. Robert A. Turner, a retired member of the 25-Year Club, gave the invoca tion that preceded a luncheon served in the school cafeteria. New members welcomed into the club were: William E. Balser, James W. Browm William Lee Brown, Dewey Lee Coruihi Nomie L. Grogan, Lorene A. Halei Ralph W. Hicks, Delsie L. Hopkins and Margaret Hutcherson. Also, Lois W. Joyce, Posie J. Joyce> Nancy W. King, William H.
