It doesn’t save much time, if any, and it is certain to waste fuel. If a car has an automatic transmission, it will upshift to more eco nomical higher gear ranges sooner with light accelera tor pressure. Fishing tackle and golf clubs should be stored at home in stead of in the luggage compartment. Air conditioning and your vehicle Some options require power for their operation. These op tions and accessories are operated by either mechanical or elec trical power. Energy for the operation of any option or accessoiy must eventually come from the vehi cle’s fuel. A power-consuming option is the air conditioner. Use your air conditioner only when you really need it to stay comfort able — you’ll save fuel and money. When you use your air con ditioner, make sure windows are closed to maintain inside tem perature and lessen the load on the engine. Good gas mileage saves you money Good gas mileage goes with good driving habits, proper automobile maintenance, and thoughtful use of optional equip ment.
