So ■ez idt I SI DEAR DR. GRAHAM: What is the difference between Christian meditation [if there is such a thing] and other types of meditation, such as transcendentai meditation?- Mrs. O.R. DEAR MRS. O.R.: Chris tians are urged in the Bible to meditate, and the most impor tant thing to remember is that they are to meditate on God - who he is and what he does for us. Non-Christian types of meditation (such as trans cendental meditation) do not concentrate on the God of the Bible, and in fact they often urge a person to attempt to empty his mind of logical thought. When we meditate, we are concentrating our thoughts or reflecting on God. It is especially important for us to meditate on God’s Word, the Bible. We must allow its truths to sink into our souls, and that will not happen if we are hasty or haphazard in our reading of the Bible. We need to read the Bible, but we also need to take time to study it and reflect on its meaning for our lives. What place does the Bible have in your life every day? It is God’s Word, and he has given it to us to guide us and shape us. Take time each day to open the Bible. Read a portion of it, and then meditate prayerfully on that section. Ask God to show you what it means, and then how Its truth should make a differnece in your life. As you do this, you will find yourself growing closer to Christ and wanting to serve him more. Soybean Markets National Grain Market New crop soybean harvest moved into the corn belt with yields indicating a record crop. Soybean meal and oil markets declined due to slowed export and poor domestic feeding margins. Chicago No. 1 yellow soybeans in hopper cars declined 33V2 cents to 6.29V2, down 1.55 per bushel from last year. Minneapolis flaxseed held at 6.85, down 90 cents per bushel from last year. Duluth sunflower seed fell 15 cents to 11.10, down 5 cents per hundred pounds from last year. Wheat markets moved mostly higher across the nation during the week ended September 24. Record wheat inspections for export for last week coupled with large volume of export wheat sales to Russia, China and other counties supported the market. The higher prices encourated farm selling and resuited in heavier hedge pressure on further markets and this cut into the price advance at the end of the -period. North Carolina Review Corn prices were 6 to 8 cents lower and soybeans 15 to 23 cents lower through Thursday, September 24, compared to the same period Of the previous week. No. 2 yellow shelled corn ranged mostly $2.50 to $2.56 in the Eastern part of the state and $2.62 to $2.71 in the Piedmont. No. 1 yeilow soybeans ranged mostly $6.37 to $6.81 in the East and $6.30 to $6.50 m the Piedmont; No. 2 red winter wheat $3.50 to $3.57; No. 2 red oats $1.67 to $2.20. New crop prices quoted for harvest delivery - Soybeans $6.15 to $6.29, Wheat $3.92 to $3.97. Soybean meal fob N.C. processing plant per ton 44%-$210.10 to $2.27.00.
