I i Page 6 West Craven Highlights, January 12, 1978 SPORTS Dolphins Craven Champs The Dolphins, Vance- Division Champions with a boro’s Craven County perfect 5-0 record in divi- Youth Football team sion play under coaches emerged as the Pee Wee Leonard Taylor, Jr. and Cannon’s Variety Store Presents its Annual Jonuary White Sale Tony Caprara. The 22-boy team, sponsored by Kite’s Supermarket and the parents ol the players, fought hard but dropped four non-division games to a much older and larger sized Havelock team for an overall record of 5-4. At their November 19th Awards Banquet, all the members of the Dolphin team received individual trophies for their accom plishment. Mr. Gus Kite was awarded a special trophy in appreciation for his sponsorship of the team. The Craven County Recrea tion Department supplied for officials for each game. The Craven County Youth Football League is affiliated with the nation wide Pop Warner Football League. Building the char acter of all the participants, not just one or two, is one of the goals of the Pop Warner League. The com plete team roster includes the following future athletic stars: Andy Caprara, Johnny Clark, Marvin Daw son, Bobby Elks, Randy Elks, Troy Freeman, Jimmy Haddock, Terrial Hardy, Curtis Jenkins, Maurice Jenkins, Percy Johnson, Douglas Lee, Stacy Lee, Chris Martin, Clay McOmber, Jerry Morris, Keith Morris, Leon Morris, Frenchie Nobles, Jonathan Taylor, Lennie Taylor, and Curtis White. WHO CAME TV THE DENVER NUGGETS FROM THE KANSAS CITY KINGS, AFTER HE COMPLETED HIS FINEST SEASON IN PRO BASKETBALL. THIS G'3" BUNDLE OF TALENT AVERAGED n POINTS A GAME WITH 199 STEALS, 238 rebounds and 320 ASSISTS. He's happy to be a Nugget.
