Arts Festival planned for next week kNEW BERN - Twin nvers Mall will be the sight of a week of art and music when The Craven County Schools sponsor their Cultural Arts Exhibit Monday May 26 - Saturday May 31, 1980. Thirteen schools have joined in a combined effort to present exhibits of art, instrumental music, choral music and dance. West Craven High School’s Color Guard will perform at 6:30 p.m. followed by the school’s Jazz Band at 7:00 p.m. Both are directed by Joe Sizemore. Art Work done by the students will be on display in the Mall beginning at 10 a.m. Monday morning and ending each evening at 9 p.m. when the Mall closes. On Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. students from Farm Life Elementary School in Vanceboro will perform Square Dancing directed by Janice Wall. West Craven Junior High School’s Band directed by Joe Sizemore and the school’s chorus directed by Tony Tuckwiller will perform at 1 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Tuckwiller will direct the West Craven High School Chorus. Janiece Wall will direct the Fort Barnwell Elemen tary students in square dancing and chorus. The Havelock Junior High School Band directed by Mike Fussell will perform Harris advances at 1:30 p.m. On Friday, Janiece Wall will again direct the Farm Life Elementary School students in square dancing. At 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Mike Fussell will direct the Havelock High School Band. Cultural Arts Supervis or for the Craven County Schools is Ms. Ruth Hoyle. Sharon V. Harris blazed to a 14.2 seconds clocking in the 110 meter high hurdles enroute to a first place finish and a new school record. In fact, he shattered the record by six tenths of a second.
