The blush (red colors) on peaches varies according to the variety. Soft creamy, gold under color of the yellow portion is a sign of ripeness. Firm, ripe, medium- to-iarge peaches are generally best and should be kept at room temperature, then refrigerate until used. PEACHY DELIGHT 1V^ cups self-rising flour 2tosp. sugar '^A^up butter or margarine sOTened 1 cup finely chopped pecans 2 cups fresh peaches 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding and pie mix 1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese 1 cup sifted powdered sugar 1-12 oz. pkg. frozen whipped topping Combine flour and 2 tbsp sugar, cut in butter with a pastry blender until coarse and crumbly. Add 14 cup pecans. Press into 13x9 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool completely. Combine peaches, sugar, iemon juice and set aside. Combine cream cheese powdered sugar, beating untii fluffy. Stir in 3 cups topping. Spread over crust. Combine instant pudding mix with peaches. JSpread over the cream cheese. Spread remaining whipped topping on next. Then sprinkie with pecans. Refrigerate. Microwave Instructions: Use a glass or pyrex baking dish and microwave on Roast or Medium high 7 minutes. Mayor Cox presents awards to British Delegation from Plymouth England. and the home of Britain’s Naval Base and Dock Yard, which employs over 12,000 people. The delegation has been on hand this week and last week to represent the British in North Carolina’s kickoff of the 400th Anniversary Celebration. Mr. Creber, a spokesman for the delegation, stated they had experience several firsts for his peopie while being in N.C. Among these firsts were a pig pickin', iistening to the Champion Hog Calier, iistening to a Tobacco Auctioneer, and of course attending the Manteo event last Friday with Princess Anne. He stated the hospitality of the peopie of N.C. was outstanding and they have enjoyed every minute of their time visiting. Their stay wiii be 14 days. They wiii return to Piymouth on July 22. The members of the delegation were Lord Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs. Peter Whitfield, Mr. and Mrs. George E.H.
