Area Vegetable School Scheduled The Central Area Vegetable School is planned for January 4, 1985, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Carolina Barbecue, Jacksonville. This event, sponsored by the N.C. Agricultural Extension Service, will open up with displays of products used in vegetable production and at 10:00 a.m., educational programs will begin. Lunch will be served. Tomato, sweet corn and cole crop production will be focused on this year. Post harvest handling of vegetables will be discussed, looking at methods to remove field heat of certain vegetables which will increase shelf life. Plastic culture is definitely on the increase, so application and equipment needed will be examined. And of great importance, sprayer calibration and nozzle selection will be discussed. He is a senior and has been a driver for over a year. He has received five commendations from Mr. Carlton Gray, training supervisor for Craven County. He is a native of Vanceboro, N.C. and has served as a role model for many other drivers. David is an active member of the Bus Drivers Club and VICA Club at West Craven High School. The Bus Drivers Club at West Craven High feels that outstanding drivers should be recognized. To receive this honor, a driver must be a safe driver, keep a clean bus, maintain control on the bus, and bean active memberofthe Bus Drivers Club.
