Tin 153:d was organized in 1599 as the Ist Infantry. Arkansas State Guard, During World War II the 154th arid 155th fought in the Pacific as part of the 31st Division. The 153rd went to'Alaska, and the 156th served in the European Theater of Operations. Threaded through the division's history are the- traditions ot the famous Washington Artillery, old New Orleans unit whose heritage passes on to the 141st and Tijib Field Anilkry Battalions organized in that city today.
