Miss Wilson Senior Recital Mon. Afternoon The Music Department of Ap palachian State Teacben' Col lege presents Miss Jane Wilson, mezzo soprano, in senior recital, Sunday, March 10, 3:00 p. m., in the Fine Arts Auditorium. She is a student of Mrs. Vir W. Linney. miss Wilson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Truman E. Wil son of Shelby. She is a transfer student from Gardner- Webb Junior College where she gra duated in 1961. While at Gard ner-Webb, she was a member of the College Touring Choir, a day student, presented a sopho more recital. At Appalachian, her activities include College Chorus, Music Educators Club, Girls' Chorus in the college production of "South Pacific", N.A.T.S. student auditions, solo ist in "Christmas Oratorio by Bach, and "Handel's Messiah," both of which were presented by the College Chorus and Or chestra, and guest soloist in the production of the "Messiah" in Leaksville. During the past two summers, she has directed the music at two churches in Shel by. The program will include numbers from the early Italian school through the contempor ary period. Cove Creek Home Club Has Meeting The Cove Creek Home Demon stration Club met Thursday af ternoon, February 28, in the home of Mrs. James B. Mast, with 13 members and one vis itor present. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Coy Billings. The group sang "The Old North State" and then re peated in unison the Home Dem onstration Creed. Attention was called to the music workshop in Boone March 28, at the Methodist Church. Mrs. Coy Billings and Mrs. Mae Payne conducted the pro gram on "Quick and Easy Meals." Recpies of quick and easy meals were brought by club members and passed ?round. The nominating committee re ported with the following off icers being elected for the year: President ? Mrs. Coy Billings. Vice president ? Mrs. James B. Mast. Secretary and treasurer? Mrs. Charlie Lewis. Reporters ? Mrs. Russell Hen son and Mrs. Susie Gragg. Project leaders and commit tee chairmen were selected. The meeting was closed with repeating collect. Mrs. James B. Mast conducted two quiz games. Delicious refreshments, con sisting of serving of "Chicken Chop Sticks" (a quick and easy meal) and carrot cake nuts and tea. Breitenstein Is Named To Hospital Post (Continued from page one) College. It was finished by WPA labor in 1987 and served as a clinic for the college from 1937 to 1947. The hospital was reorganised in 1947 and given to Watauga County to serve the whole community. The hospital is controlled by the board of trustees. The hospital has been expanded to 90 beds and is usu ally overflowing with patients. The hospital takes care of the ASTC students and energencies at the college as well as the couhty. Mrs. Groce said that a new hospital is of vital importance to the Boone community, the college and the county. Citizens of the county will have an op portunity in September 196S to vote their support of the new hospital. Teamster's $90,000 pay raise reported.
