Mrs. A. D. Ward, Sr. Is “Best-Dressed”: H.D. Club Contest Affair Held To Raise Money For Com- ! munity Building “She was beautiful wearing a gown of imported silk lace over l satin. Her matching hat was trimmed with ostrich plumes in shades of lavendar and purple. An imported fan wjiiciji she flirt ed gave a ‘coy’ effect. And she parried a lovely bag made of bro cade and silver mesh.” • No wonder Mrs. A. D. Ward, ! Jsr., was judged the best dressed! When the Wards Home . Demon stration Club began to raise funds for its now completed communi ty building, “the girls” presented a comedy, “Twelve Old Maids.” pne can imagine the glamour dis played, as well as the jovial at mosphere it must have created! Mrs. Ward was always ready to join in the fun-part of the club activities. * It was through such endeavors as these, aijd the untiring efforts of such interested persons as Mrs. Ward that the Wards Com munity Building now stands com pleted, and a center fob communi ty activities and club events. Twenty years of participating jp club activities has proven to this family that the Extension Education program is surely jnarching forward, and the re sponsibilities pass from .one gen eration to another. Mrs. A. D. Ward, Sr., has been active in county and district jjvents for many years serving as president of her club, as county gouncil president, ans later as secretary and parliamentary ad yisor to the council. During 1937- 09, Mrs. Ward was president of JJie 16th District. «• Due to her physical condition. Sie is no longer able to support 1 her club as actively as previous- U ly, yet her interest and enthusi- ' asm are not curtailed.
