PAGE SIX i—MCCROW TWO 1 I ; SUNDAY •CHOOI. LESSON ' Continued on Pago 6—Section 2 compromise. The good, indeed, in much of oiir human relation ships is possible only through the compromise between two in* more opinions of what is good. God's will is the highest possi ble good in our situation. But there are many things on Which we can find no compro mise if we are to be worthy of the 'presient-day conception of Christianity. We must be intol erant of that which injures or in ahy way hurts human life* wher eVer and whenever it is found. It is here we must refuse to compromise. We cannot com promise with such loving truth as we see it. Here we must take our stand with Pet_r and the other disciples. After care ful study of an issue, we have *o make up our minds where we believe God’s will lies, and follow this as sincerely and hum bly as we know how. We can- Inot compromise with the call of God to love our neighbors, what ever their status or creed, as we love ourselves. Anything short of this is wrong. Always we must choose the possibility that best expresses in our situation the love of God, not only for ourselves, our family and group but for all men. For instance, the right of an individual to drink alcoholic bev erages is commonly accepted by a large percentage of our popu lation; and yet, 40 to 60 per cent cf the automobile accidents, with untold hurt and destruction, is d rectly traceable to the use of alcohol. Add to this the broken homes, and all the other destruc tion wrought by the use of bev erage alcohol, and it would seem that the loving will of God is clear in this respect, at least. As Christians we need to study the world situation and the prob lems connected with local, do mestic, and national issues While we cannot be experts in all these fields, as Christian citi zens we must decide. We have to vote, and our voice either is si'ent or vocal for the right or wrong things. A willingness to work together and use of the aids our church provides in making such studies • will keep us from the guilt and sin of ig norance. And once we have gar nered all the available facts and t’'e judgment is decided, we have to speak out, to register our opinions, to make our choices in whatever action is required, in dividually or collectively. Above all, we must have the resources of courage and strength (those same qualities possessed by the disciples) if we, too, are to obey God rather than men. The committee discussed things that have been done as they come to a close of the con test. It is hoped everyone will soon turn in their reports, so records can be completed. Plans were comoleted for a community sing which was held at the old Rocky Hock school Friday, October 27. This is in keeping with one cf t’ e pro jects chosen for the community progress contest.
