Ryland 1-IPers Hold Meeting The Ryland Senior 4-H Club met January 17 at the Ryland Community Building. The meeting was opened 'by the president, Jerry By rum, who led the club in the pledges to the American flag and the 4-H flag, after, which everyone repeated the 23rd Psalm. L. B. Taylor led the club in singing “Am erica.” Harry Venters gave a demonstration on “How to Plan a 4-H Club Meeting.” He also gave out record books for the 1966 projects. There being no further business, the meeting was ad- : journed and everyone en joyed refreshments served by the 4-H leader, Mrs. Lester I Copeland. For Sale! Hollowell Calls Annual Meeting FONTANA DAM 3Ol h Division veterans of Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas will hold a reunion at Fon tana Village Resort, Fontana Dam, N. C„ May 20-22, 1966. Host for the regional con clave will be the Tar Heel Chapter, 30th Division Asso ciation. A special effort to bring together World War I survivors of the famous Old Hickory Division has been announced by Chapter Presi dent E. L. Hollowell of Eden ton. Vice President Frank Swan of Andrews, a World War I veteran, and Robert Sloan of Fontana Dam. a World War II veteran, are in charge of arrangements for (he reunion. The Great Smoky Moun tains resort is centrally lo cated for the reunion. It is situated 9 miles from the Tennessee border, and less I ban 200 miles from Atlanta, Georgia and Greenville, South Carolina. The 30th Division of both Wars was made up primarily of national guardsmen of the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Georgia. ' World WSi * I ‘survivor have not had a national re union since the 1930’5,' and many are unaware of the existence of the 30th Division Association. Watkins, president, for out standing performance during 1965. Weeks received a cash award for membership in crease during the year. He won the club's top honor, the “Mr. Motor Club” trophy, for 1963. Weeks was highly com mended for his achievement by Watkins and Lewis Scruggs, Rocky Mount divi sion manager.
