regular session at 8 P. M.
at the Edenton Municipal
Building.

get and requested that this
be inclulded.
Mr. Harrell led a review
and discussion of 1967
budget expenditures.
Motion by Mr. Byrum,
seconded by Mr. Ricks and
unanimously carried that
radio announcements in
connection with the water
situation be started imme
diately.

Mr. Hines, superintend- |
ent, reported that the elec- ;
trical outlets and water ■
spigots authorized to be in- !
stalled at the county dock
for use of pleasure boats
had been completed and
were in service. He stated
that these facilities were
used over the Fourth of
July by a boat from Rhode
Island.
The hydrant installation
along with two two-inch
-- hose connection hydrants
have also been installed
and are in use at the Fire
Station.
Mr. Hines discussed with
the Board of Public Works
several operating problems,
suggesting methods of
handling them and was di
rected to dispose of them
as outlined.
A lengthy and detailed
discussion was led by Mr.
Hines in connection with
the problems facing the

sult of the attitude shown
by the 1967 Legislature
toward amending the 1965
Electric Law which denied
the towns and cities to ex
ercise control of the fa
cilities within the city
limits. Mr. Hines also re
viewed the program of ac
tions taken by 11 North
eastern N. C. towns, in
cluding Edenton, in their
efforts to get a reduced
electric rate frfom VEPCO
through the Federal Pow
er Commission.
