Page 2-A Marathon Run Is Slated * WASHINGTON - The Third Annual Washington to-Belhaven 26-mile Run— Walk-Run—Bicycle Mara thon will be held July 44, kicking off the annual tßelhaven 4th of July Festival and raising funds for World Vision In ternational for their world wide outreach prograins. The marathon will begin 'from the parking lot of the Y-Grocery located on River Road, five miles each of Washington, and proceed 'down Highway 306 from the '“Y” to the intersection of Highway 264. Thence, participants will travel eastward along 264 through Yeatsville and Pantego, •straight into downtown : Belhaven, Main Street, c Each participant will certificates of ap preciation, trophies, or . medallions, depending upon :order of finish. Overman of iStantonsburg, a career state : highway engineer for nearly ■26 years, has been promoted :to chief engineer for the :N.C. Department of Trans : porta tion’s Division of Highways. State Transportation Secretary Tom Bradshaw announced Overman’s appointment Friday at the Board of Transportation’s meeting in Pamlico County. ■ Overman, a registered professional engineer, succeeds D. Winners will be recognized in four divisions: Women; Men; Children (12 and under); and Seniors (35 and over). Awards will be pesented at 3 P.M. at the Finish-line in downtown Belhaven. The Marathon course is measured at 6.2, 10,15, and 20 miles, enabling those who so desire to run a specific portion of the race and walk to the finish. Camping will be permitted by permission.
