Mr. Proctor Claims Bride Miss Lillian June Byrum became the bride of Thomas Wayne Proctor in a double ring ceremony Saturday in Edenton Baptist Church. Dr. Robert E. Gray of Newport News, Va., of ficiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Alma Byrum of Edenton. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Andrew Proctor of Hertford. Presenting a program of wedding music were Mrs. Larry Smith, organist; Mr. Joe Kenny, guitarist; and Miss Jackie Parker, soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a wedding dress designed and made by the groom’s sister, Miss Gail Proctor of Virginia Beach, Va. Miss Jean Byrum of Raleigh was her sister’s honor attendant. The bridesmaids were Miss Thelma Goodwin of Edenton; Miss Anita Bristow of Bennettsville, S.C.; Miss Renee Moses of Pittsboro, cousin of the bride; and Miss Gail Proctor of Virginia Beach. The groom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were Bobby Hollowell of Cary, cousin of the groom; Charles Mathews and Stanley Nixon of Hertford; and Barry Lane of Pitts boro. The bride is a senior psychology-education major at Meredith College in Raleigh, and is a member of the Kappa Nu Sigma and Psi Chi honor societies. The groom is a minister, having graduated from the Oral Roberts University graduate School of Theology. After a wedding trip to Fontana Village, the couple will make their home in Raleigh. Courtesies The bride was entertained at a miscellaneous shower on March 22 by Miss Anita Bristow, Miss Lura Anthony and Miss Silda Wall, and other friends at Meredith College. On May 17 relatives and friends of the groom gave the bride a shower at the Bethel Community Building. The bridal couple was honored at a buffet dinner given by Dr. and Mrs. Edward G. Bond, Mr. and Mrs. William P. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clarence Leary, Jr., Mrs. Nancy Wood and Mr. and Mrs. William B. Gardner at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Bond, May 19. A cookout, June 2 was given for the couple by Mr. and Mrs. William Norvell, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blades, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shepard, and Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Hassell at the Norvell home. A bridesmaids’ luncheon was given June 8 by Mrs. Joseph Thorud, Mrs. Joe Truslow, Mrs. Benjamin Askew, and Mrs. James Henry at the home of Mrs. Thorud. On the evening of June 8 Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Proctor entertained the members of the wedding party and friends with a rehearsal dinner at the Coach House Inn Restaurant. Following the rehearsal the bridal party and friends were entertained at an after rehearsal party by Mr. and Mrs. Luther F. Am bum, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hollowell, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. William C. Bunch, and Mr. and Mrs. John F. Williams at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Amburn. On their wedding day, the wedding party and out-of town guests were en tertained at a luncheon given by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Byrum, Jr. and Mrs. and Mrs. Scott Harrell at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Byrum. Methodist Topic Rev. Norwood L. Jones, Elizabeth City District Superintendent, will preach at the 11 A.M. worship service Sunday at Edenton United Methodist Church. Mr. Jones will use as his topic, “The Good Gift To Your Children.’’ His text is Matthew 18:1-6; and 19:13- 15. Mr. Chuck Smith, church lay leader, will be in charge of the service in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Richard R. Blankenhora. BPW Convention Is Held The 60th annual con vention of the N. C. Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, held in the Great Smokies Hilton in Asheville June 7-10, was attended by past state president Julia Hassell and Marginette Lassiter and Hettie Wallace, president and president elect of'the Edenton Club. The ISdenton BPW Club received a Foundation Award for 1978-79. Peilane Desha, past national president, was speaker at the installation banquet. She was assisted by Hon. Ruth M. Easterling.
