Thursday, February 28, 1980 Letter To The Chowan Herald Editor To the Editor: Personally I think it is about time the law take over and do something about these boys and their guns, 8.8. guns, air rifles or whatever kind, if they do not know who or what to shoot at in Chowan County. At any time you cannot drive on the main highway without having your car window shot out. The boy admits in court he was shooting and heard glass rattle and thought he had shot the window out. Letter To The Editor ..TojJacJEdite In recent weeks in Washington President Carter has told represen tatives of various women’s groups that there is NOTHING (my emphasis) that he would not do to obtain the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, and that he meant to accomplish this through Democratic National Committee efforts and his campaign workers. He also pledged to carry to the Supreme Court, if necessary, any adverse ruling that states may rescind a previous vote for ratification of the amend ment. President Carter says that ERA is one of his major commitments, but ERA is number one on the priority list of many North Carolinians and they have proved it, inspite of outside money and supporters, not three times but four. Why not kill it once and for all when it comes up again by checking out all of the candidates “before” we cast our ballots in the next election? Emily J.
