I tell you Southern Baptist nor any other Christian movement will reach our nation for Jesus Christ until we learn how to share our agape (Christ-like love) with them. I truly believe the degree that we respect, cherish and love others, most of the time, depends on how close we are walking with God. I'm afraid that some people are willing to sing the old gospel hymn, “Just a closer walk with thee", as long as they can gossip and spread discord among the brethren. Listen beloved, real Christ-like love for others is the gauge that reveals exactly how deep our experience in and with God has been. The Bible reveals that John the Beloved said, “If a man says he loves God and hateth his brother, he is a liar, for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath see, how can he love God whom he hath not seen!” Listen, I want you to remember one thing in this message, if you do not remember anything else , . . “nothing must be allowed to supercede the love of Christ in your and my Christian life.” No sum of money given to the Lord’s work, no amount of time investing in His service, nothing, I say nothing can fill the spot that is reserved for our unfeigned or ge nuine love for others. God loves his creations and so must we . . . all the way. I By Sarah Harrell Trexler .Little blue hycianths are bloom ing in the Meadow — planted there years ago by “Miss Paulina * Hassell”. They are by the pines put out by Ruth Vaughan, on her boundary line — they are a joy tp. see. The daffodills from Milts Paulina’s days are budding and I have some inside — along with the blue hycianths, camellias and scotch broom — they all open nicely in the warm room, and are surely a breath of Spring. Crocus are also opening — like a bowl of cream. There are red quince branches in an old pitcher (they are pink when forced) — and love ly... The weather is a mixture of snow threats and Spring-a coming. Other things are coming up also. The Symphony on Thursday night, March 6 — a rare treat for Edenton, and then the Harrell’s will gather in Richmond, Virginia on March 8, when Dr. Jack and Millie Harrell Chevalier will see their daughter, Margaret Walden, become Mrs. Vaughan Monroe Mallory in an Ashland, Virginia ceremony. There will be an emp ty nest in their Goochland County home that night. 1 hope that the bluebirds will be there again. They love the pine trees by the Golf Course. And speaking of pine trees — 1 know that the slaughter of Jews did happen — by ignorant and criminal people, that is history. And somehow — I wonder as I wander across this lovely land If such acts of violence We will ever understand. Or if one could really take an axe To a lovely pine tree stand . . . A reason: Too small to cause much damage. A little pitch — perhaps! They were slaughtered like the Visions of Africa will dance in your mind. Puppy, our cat-in-residence, curled up with Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen recently. It paints such vivid descriptions that he’ll be stalking wild game for weeks! Don't confuse the movie with the book. The screenplay was based on several books and focuses on the romance between Dinesen and Denys Finch Hatton. The book, on the other hand, is a romance with the land and life itself. It’s a wonderful collection of memories that introduce us to the eastern Africa of the early 19006. It’s not a new book, but it is certainly an excellent one. $4»s KANDOM I IDl IKK.
