MANY COUNTY
SCHOOLS TO OPEN
iil,A i muiNUA I
Bad Weather Makej F?dy Opisiag
Necessary Hope to Remedy
Situation Soon
Many of the rural schools of the
County are scheduled ito open "for
the regular fall term on Monday
July 23rd, according to a decision
reached by the county superintendent
in con Terence with members <rf
the board of education a short -time
ago. When questioned,! as to the
reason for th^ eaijy opening of the
schools, Superintendent A. L. Martin
explained that it was necessary
in many of the outlying districts
in cider to finish the six weeks term
before thef rough wintqr weather begins.
"The school building? in some
of the districts are not properly constructed
and heated to give the children
adequate protection during the
colder parH of the year," said Mr.
Martin. Another element /entering
into the early opening of the county
schools is Jhc bad rfcads. These,
howfverfi are being improved,* better
?<hool hotter* in many of, the districts
arc being built and it is
thought that within the course of a
few years the whole county school
lystem carj be reorganized and put
on a better basis. Tlie superintendent
and other schoof officials ar*
working with this end iB view.
