With things both old and new, When merry bells of earth shall chime. And bring glad tiding to me and you. THE CITY SQUARE By Catherine Moore Why do we have the City square? Why do people think it so rare? Why do we tide it up? With all sorts of beautiful stuff? Why did Miss Courtney make the chains? And put them up in the rain. She made them out of ever greens | o make the square a pretty scene. Who put up the pretty red and green light To make it so pretty at night? Miss Fuller had her classes to bring The ever greens and everything. The civic classes brought holly and berries; And every thing to make it so merry. Miss Fuller and Miss Courtney too Did the best they could do. I think the City and the Town And every place close around should thank the Murphy lli^h school For getting up such a pretty view. PEACHTREE SCHOOL NEWS Our F.-T- A. held its ninthly meeting last Friday afternoon. Some very interesting talks were given by Mr. R. C. Pipes and Rev. R. C. Shearin. Mr. Frank Smith of the Folks School entertained the pupils with some stories and songs. A large number of parents were present. The picture was won by Mr. Pipes' room for ht>v?n.? tv... ? ... wiv iiiusi. paifilis present. The lunch room was opened last Thursday Under Mrs. W. C. Pipes and Mi's. Vevie Moore as cooks. We hope that it will continue through the winter months. Everyone was glad to see Miss Rosa Millsaps back in school after j visiting her uncle in Blairsville, Ga. Wendell Lovingood, a pupil in the ' 3rd grade and Tommie Lovingood, a' pupil in the Oth grade have moved to { Decatur, Tenn. RANGER NEWS Mr. D. J. Lawrence dropped dead Dec. 13, was buried Sunday.
