Xpleeepal Service ,, Pruned Teday Thursday, May 10 (today) an Aaconaton Day Service will be held at ? p. m. at the Church of the Messiah, Episcopal, with Holy Communion. A picnic supper will follow the service. An Ascension Day service will be held at 7:S0 p. m. today at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Wednesday and Thursday, May 9 and 10 this week the dlpcesan convention was held at St. Phil lips Church, Brevard, with the following delegates from local Episcopal churches: Mrs. F. C. Bourne, 8r., Church of the Mes siah; Mrs. William Powell, St. Barnabas; Mrs. Earl A. Munger, Holy Comforter and Earl A. Mun ger, alternate, Holy Comforter. South End Sets Mother's Day Service A Mother's Day Program will be held Sunday, May 13, at South End Baptist Church. The program will last throughout the day. All preachers, public speakers and singers are especially invited to attend along with the general public. Everyone is asked to bring a picnic lunch. A revival will begin at the church that night with the ' Rev. Alvin Parris and the Rev. I Claude Davenport conducting. Upper Peachtree Prayer services were held at the home of Willie Lunsford Fri day night. ? Sunday School was interesting Sunday morning and each class took an interest. Mrs. John Curtis is in the And rews Hospital. Paul Barker is improving after being sick for several days. Jimmie Lunsford spent Sunday with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Thomasson. Mr. and Mrs. Shortie Leather wood moved back to their home herefrom Atlanta. Mrs. J. L. Lunsford of Bessmer City is spending several days with her parents here, the C. W. Thomassons. The farmers of this community have been quite busy the past week planting and getting ready to plant corn. Richard Lunsford of Gastonia is visiting his mother here. Mrs. Eula Griffith visited Mrs. Dorothy Curtis Saturday after noon. Doyle Barker visited in Andrews Sunday. Mrs. Laura Barker and Mrs. Morrison Moore visited Mr. and Mrs. WajO?s Moore one day last week. V> . I -4 MISS REESE SPRING QUEEN Pretty Bobbie Jean Itew, a bove, was crowned Spring Queen at the annual Spring Carnival at Hlwaaoee Dam High School. Chariea Hawkins was king. Runners up were Annette West and Marvin Haw kins, who each received gilts. <500 was raised tor school pro jects at the event. First And Second . .
