III f ERROR BLAMED IN ROBESON VOTE MISCOUNT I.umberton-A review by fbe U.S. Attorney's office in Raleigh has found that human error was responsible for 325 unacountable ballots in the ' June 29 primary in Robeson County. Sam Currin, U.S. attorney, requested last September an investigation by the Robeson County Board of Elections into ballot discrepancies in the primary election. He asked that the board report all findings. The U.S. Attorney's office reported findings that 75 ballots were unaccounted for in the Lumberton No. 1 precinct. 25 ballots in the Lumberton No. 3 precinct, and 27 ballots in the Lumber ton No. 8 precinct. in the Pembroke precinct as many as 168 ballots were unaccounted for with Maxton having about 30 ballots. The request for review to the U.S. Attorney's office is unknown. Currin has not revealed what prompted the review and county elections board officials have indicated they were unaware of com plaints with the primary elec tion. Lib Morton, elections board supervisor, said she was notified by letter of Currin's satisfaction with the investi gation and the accountability of the ballots. The letter said that the U.S. Attorney's office was satisfied that errors in the election were human errors rather than willful intent to misuse any ballots. i ? f *' Pembroke Kiwanis announces 1 Pancake Snppe* On Friday.
