MAXTON-Mr. Stedford Chavis Sr..
75, died Monday (June 25) in Duke
University Medical Center in
Durham.
Mr. Chavis was an army veteran
of World War II and a carpenter.
He was also a Sunday School superintendent
for 25 years at Community
Holiness Church and a
member of the VFW.
The funeral was held at 4 p.m.
Thursday (June 28) in Community
Holiness Church, the Revs. Greg
Locklear, Waymon Bullard and
Gene A. Chavis officiating. Burial
followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Chavis is survived by his
wife, Rosie L. Chavis of the home;
three sons, Stedford Chavis Jr. and
Nathaniel L. Chavis. both of
Maxton, and Daniel Chavis of Red
Springs; a brother. Preston L.
Chavis of Rennert; a sister. Annie
R. Jacobs of Red Springs: eight
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
David Pena

24) at Southeastern Regional Medical
Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Pena was bom Sept. 30,1973
in Robeson County. He was the
son of Gilbert Pena Jr. and Shadie
Locklear Pena. He attended Ten
Mile Center Baptist Church in
Lumberton and was an employee
of Kirby's Mobile Home Service in
Lumberton.
Mr. Pena is survived by a daughter,
McKayla Pena of the home;~a
son. Raven Pena. also of the home:
his parents. Gilbert and Shadie
Pena of Corpus Christi. Texas.; maternal
grandparents, Willie Carson
and Liiar L. Locklear. both of St. ,
Pauls; paternal grandmother. Lucia
Garcia Pena of Corpus Christi,
Texas; two brothers. Gilbert A. Pena
of Kingsville. Texas and Gilmer

Mr. Maynor was the son of the
late Rev. Britton Maynor and Etta
Brewer Maynor. He was a retired
construction worker and a member
of the Rennert Volunteer Fire De
partment for fourteen >ears.

Wednesday (June 27) at Southeastern
Regional Medical Center.
The funeral was held Friday
(June 29) at Revels Funeral Home
Chapel in Pembroke. Burial followed
at Lumbee Memorial Gardens
in Lumberton.
Mr. Chavis was born in Robeson
County and was a truck driver and
an Indian craftsman. He was preceded
in death by his parents, William
and Enna Lee Chavis.
He is survived by three sons,
Wally Chavis of Cliffside and
Vincent and Jason Chavis, both of
Lumberton; a daughter. Carlene
Chavis of Lumberton; a brother,
Carney Chavis of Ohio; three sisters,
Kathy Ross of Ohio, Marsha
Varga of Michigan and Oleta

grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Blanks; a son. Furies Odell Blanks;
and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by four daughters.

"Patrisa was a special little girl. She
was loved by everyone and will be
greatly missed."
