12 THE CAROLINA TIMES JAT.. SEPTEMBER 27, 1SSO U.S. Air Force Officer To , Visit City U.S. AIR FORGE ACADEMY, COLO. Second Lieutenant Willie Gunn, a 1980 graudate of the academy, will be speaking to minority and other high school students throughout the Durham area who are interested in the academy. Why should a minority ' high school student be in terested in attending the academy? Primarily because he or she can get an education at a school which is recognized for its outstanding academic pro gram and also for its outstanding career oppor tunities following gradua tion. The academy pays for each student's tuition, room, meals, school equipment and medical care, and allows an addi tional $400 per month to help cover necessary per sonal expenses. The average class at the academy consists of fif teen to twenty students which permits personal discussion between' the cadet and the instructor. Basic courses in the sciences, social sciences and humanities are re quired during the first two years. This allows each cadet to attain a basic knowledge of many sub jects. During the final two years, cadets develop their own potential and tailor their program to suit their individual talents and in terests. After graduation, the Air Force guarantees, the student a job as a se cond lieutenant. The basic eligibility re quirements are as follows: Be at least seventeen and not have reached 22nd birthday by July 1 of the year of entry. Unmarried. A United States citizen by the date of entry. Any student who can. meet these requirements and is interested in top quality education and a; !;uaranteed job as an of-' icer irf the regular Air1 Force (a position similar to a junior executive in most large companies) should plan to speak with Lt. Gunn between Oc tober 8, 1980 to October 9, 1980. Please call Major William Burnette, the academy liaison officer coordinator, at (919) 876-7081 for the acutal times and places. Everything but the Kitchen Sink The big news in kitch ens these days is wood, earth tones, and an abun dance of plants. Beauti ful hardwoods are every where, from floor to ceil ing covering everything but the top of the stove and kitchen sink. It's a wonderful lived-in look. It's all part of the back-to-nature 'theme that has been dominating the fashion and home fumish- I ings world for almost ten years now. And, why the idea had to simmer so long before it took over in the kitchen is any one's guess. Fortunately, hardwood cabinets are available in an infinite variety of styles, finishes and sizes. If it's the new rustic look that appeals' to you, you'll find simple, straightforward designs in such richly marked hardwoods as knotty oak, wormy chestnut, to name ' a few. And, if you prefer traditional or early Amer ican, you will find a va riety of handsome de signs in maple, walnut, oak and ash. Whatever style you choose, you'lf be right in style and the. warm natural tones of wood will make your kitchen as inviting and refreshing as a breath of fresh air. The great thing about these new furnished kitchens Is that they are practically maintenance free and indestructible. Hardwood cabinets re quire little more than a dally dusting and a semi annual washing to keep then looking ship-shape. When washing, remember to use mild soap and as little water as possible Work oo small area at time and wipe with a dr. cloth as you go alone (cash dividend special) (j)x f (cash dividend special) G) J' pSps WHITE CLOUD ( CHICIffiN-OF-THKEA Wi tZ-S DATHBOOM I iCHUNK LIGHT (OIL PACKED) (Jtm TIS3U!
