Prior to his election. Bell was ap

Meeting. Bell has been employed
by IBM Corporation, Research Tri
angle Park, North Carolina since
1968. He currently serves as Senior
Engineer. Bell has served as
Chairman of the Durham Board of
County Commissioners since 1982.
He is also a member of the North
Carolina Association of County
Commissioners, the National Asso
ciation of County Officials, the
North Carolina Association of
Black County Officials, the In
stitute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers, Inc., the Board of Direc
tors of the Greater Durham Cham
ber of Commerce, the Board of

Paul Miller, who has been active
in the social and political issues of
Durham, was sworn in January 21
IS a membei of the Durham Plan
ning Commission.
Miller ran for the state House of
Representatives in 1992 and the
Durham City Council in 1993.
Miller serves on the Youth Ser
vo e Advisory Board, Industrial
Facilities Board, Polution Control
and the Financing Authority.
Miller said that he hopes to
achieve a more rounded experience
by being on the Planning Commis
sion. The Youth Board has given
him an outlook on the social needs
of Durham's youth and the Plan
ning Commission should give him
an outlook on the infrastructure of
the city and enable him to serve the
co,:iivi’usliy more thoroughly.

twelve (12) years experience in

Mrs. Souder was employed with
Decatur Federal Savings and Loan,
Decatur, Georgia from 1978-1989

as an Administrative Assistant prior
