USE WOOD ASHES FOR RERTILIZER t 8 Raleigh. May 18.?"The town families of North Carolina ore throw ing away thousands of dollars a year through their failure to utilise as fertiliser for their gardens the ' wood ashee from their fire placea/and kitchen stores," today remarked Dr. Clarence Poe, editor of the Progress - ire Farmer, in speaking of the Live at-Home campaign and the economic necessity for increased food produc tion in North Carolina. "Wood ashes contain valuable elements nec essary for plant growth, being par ticularly strong in potash. I.began putting my ashes on my garden a few years ago and the results hare been remarkable. Town families which hare no garden should offer .their ashes to neighbors who do hare gar ment. "Another valuable asset for the town gardener is found in? leaves which too often are raked up and ' burned after they fall in early Win 1 ter. They should never be burned but piled up to rot for use in the garden. 'They not only add valuable humus to ? the soil but art worth practically a much ?s an ?qial wel|hl oftnanun for fertiliser. The destruction 01 leave* and the failure to utilise -?oo< ashee for manure constitute an eco nomic waste of no small proportions The utilisation of these things woul< add thousands of dollars a year to th< value of our own town gardens." i PUT CREAM IN NOSE AND STOP CATARRH ? . ,n ' TdlH** Si OM qiuri KM trile ud EndHoad-CeMs. eoU in head or cata^wnTbo gooL Your clogK^ noetriU will open.
