The restless and dissatisfied ing which has prevailed among the colored people of this State has at length reached Wilmington and it burst into open flame at a meeting held last night in the colored Baptist Church, corner Fifth and Campbell streets. The meeting was called to appoint delegates to attend a meet ing of the North Carolina Exodus Association, to convene in Raleigh on the 26th inst. Richard Ashe presided at the meet ing last night and Rev. John Morris was made Secretary. John Hollo way, Geo. W. Price and others spoke in advocacy of the movement. An other meeting is announced for to night at Rev. Scipio Saul's church, on Nixon street, North of the W. & W. R. R. Superintendent Elias Richards. but will aim for the new States. What they will do when they get there does not seem to have been discussed at very great length. There are not many of those who may go from the city who can guide a plow handle. They don't ask any advice, however, from white people and would probably take none. We shall be sorry to see them go but we do not think that either the whites, or those of their own race who may elect to remain here, will suffer by their departure. Will Your Re tltis for $500? For many years the manufacturers of Dr. Sage's Catarrh Remedy, who are abundantly responsible finan cially, as any one can easily ascer tain by enquiry, have offered, in good faith, a standing reward of $500 for a case of nasal catarrh, no matter how bad or of ho w low stand ing, which they cannot cure. The Remedy is sold by druggists at 50 cents. Personal. Dr. S. S. Satchwell and Mr. R. C. Johnson, of Pender county, were in the city to day. Mr. Hasel W. Burgwin, of Virginia, has been here for several days on a visit to relatives in the city. Mr. Jactob Liyon, for man y years a prominent merchant and a highly esteemed resident of this city, is here on a visit to his old friends. We were glad to see him looking so well Imperatively Needed. We have a serious suggestion to make to the city authorities. Ever since Campbell street was torn up in putting uown tne street car tracks it has been an unpleasant street to travel over in a vehicle. The city, at one time, assisted by private citizens, made a good car riage way there. It does not exist now. It is necessary to build a new roadway to Oakdale Cemetery. Red Cross street now presents the best opportunity for this and two birds can be killed with one stone by do ing it. Pine Forest Cemetery is also approachable by this street and a new roadway there can be used to go to both places. The necessity for this road is im perative. It cannot, of course, be constructed at once, but a better roadway than is now accessible can easily be arranged by Memorial Day. Something must be done with it before then and the only way that occurs to us is that the street be sawdusted. This material makes a nice, pleasant drive and it can be had here in great abundance. The mill owners, we understand, are ready to furnish as much as is need ed, free of charge. There are three weeks in which to do the work. The sawdust need be laid only on Red Cross as far East as the street car track goes on Campbell, and then up the cross street one block. We Iiope that this matter will be taken seriously into consideration and the work will be done at once- li, will save a great deal of discom fort on Memorial Day and on many days after that.
