The Petrel is fitting out for China, but ships bound out to the China station may be sent by way of the South Atlantic and the Cape of Good Hope. The Petrel has her battery and crew aboard. Some de lay has been occasioned by the state room furniture being too large for use, but all such fittings could be otten in on very short notice. The Dolphin, too, could start South on a day's notice. The most desirable vessel to send, if it becomes neces sary, would be the. -big cruiser Bal timore, whose speed trials have just ended so successfully. The Balti more, if a full crew could be obtain ed, would represent one of the most efficient fighting ships afloat. The Dolphin and the Petrel would be valuable auxiliaries, since their light draught would euable them to assend all of the smaller rivers. Is any "Flower Bora to Itlusli Unseen"?
