The. market opened steady at a de cline of 2 to , 8 points and active months showed a net loss of A , to 8 ; points during the first few minutes under ai reenwal -of yesterdays late selling piovement which was promoted by disappointing cables. Receipts con tlnued .light, however, and Instead of . catehmg! the expected stop orders at 10.60 fof May, a considerable demand was encountered- on which the mar ket rallied to 10.71 for that position. with active months generally.lghowing a- net gain of about S to 5 point led -r by October. Trading was very quiet during -the later session and fluctua- tions - were narrow and Irregular but the market closed within a point or so of . the best; .
