Miss Agnes Kbnerly returned to Greensboro College Monday after spending the holidays here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Kenerly. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reynolds, of Greensboro, were visitors in the Wilkesboros today. Mrs. Helen Andrews, of Mt. Airy, spent Wednesday in North Wilkesboro. Mrs. Pat Williams, Jr., is spending two weeks with rela tives in Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Charles Williams has re turned to Portland, Oregon, aft er spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Williams. Mrs. L. A. Hauser has return ed to her home here after an extended visit with her son, Mr. Walter Hauser, and family in Washington, D. C. Mrs. Sallie H. McPherson, of Raleigh, spent the holiday sea son here with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Waugh. Mrs. McPherson and Mrs. Waugh are sisters. Cadet Bobby Eller returned to Georgia Military Academy at College Park, Ga., after spend ing Christmas Holidays with his mother, Mrs. Fay Blankenshlp. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steele, of Anderson, S. C., were guests dur ing the holidays in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Z. O. Eller and Mrs. Isaac Eller, Sr., Mrs. Steele is a sister of Mr. Eller. Mrs. Lewis F. Wolfe and young daughter, Jenny, of Dur ham, visited here during the week-end with Mrs. Wolfe's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Spain hour. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Finley during the holidays were Miss Gwen Eastridge, of Sarasota, Fla., and Miss Nell Meyer, of Valdosta, Ga Mr. and Mrs. Conway Foster and children, Dickie, Jerry, Keith, and Betty Lou, of Gran ite Falls, spent last week here with Mrs. Foster's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Raymer. Miss Nancy Bessent, who is taking a nurse's course in a Charlotte hospital, was home to spend part of the holiday season with her father, Mr. S. R. Bes sent, and Mrs. Bessent. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Stahl and children, John and Martha, have returned to their home at Wil mington after spending ten days with Mrs. Stahl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jennings, at Pores Knob. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Summers and four children, Harry, Jr., Charles, Billy, and Rita, spent several days during the week end in Raleigh with Mr. Sum mers' mother, Mrs. Oscar Sum mers. Misses Margie Newton and Patsy Pope have returned to Virginia Intermont College at Bristol, Va., after spending the holidays in their homes here. Margie is the daughter of Mrs. Walter Newton, and Patsy the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Pope. Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Adams had as their guests for New Year's Day dinner Mr. and Mrs. Wray O. IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, petition has been made by a majority of the prop erty owners, which petition is now on file with the Town C|erk, re Questing improvements and pav ing of existing 20 feet Alley from Hinshaw Street to Peden Street and from Peden Street to Sixth Street with asphalt, bituminous or other standard paving, and prop erty owners owning lands or lots abutting on said Alley on each side agreeing to pay one-fourth of the cost of said improvements as soon as the work is completed and accepted by the Town, and WHEREAS, said petition has been examined and certified by the Town Clerk and accepted by the Board of Commissioners in accordance with Article 9, Sec tion 160-82 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, 1943, as amended, and determined to be sufficient, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Town of North Wilkeaboro, North Carolina, that said alley, which is situated between and parallel with "K" and "L" Streets, be improved from Hinshaw Street to and across Peden Street to Sixth Street with Bituminous paving, grading, etc., said pavement to be 18 feet wide, the costs of said im provements to be paid: one-half by the Town and one-fourth on each side of said alley by each property owner owning lands or lots abutting thereon in propor tion to the number of lineal feet of footage abutting on said alley, which payments shall be made on completion of the work. Mr. Richard Reins, a student at the Richmond Professional Institute in Richmond, Va., and Mr. Bill Reins, who is attending the Georgia Military Academy, at College Park, Ga., have re turned to their respective schools after being here for the holidays with their parents, Lieut.
