EXCELLENT KITCHEN RESULT OF COOFEMTWE EFKWTS We are very delighted to report that the Home Agents have moved into new office quarters daring the past year. The county added two wings to the Courthouse. When this work was first begun, the commissioners were then approached as to the possibilities of using one of these wings for the Home Agents I ~ 1 office. Up until this time, we had a very small office space with no laboratory available. , The commissioners had the' office wired for an electric stove and installed running water and heat. A Council meeting1 was held and this was discussed with the women. As the County Council treasurer had some money that had been previously raised for the purpose of fixing up a county kitchen, they immediately began making plans toward getting this kitchen as well *as office equipped. A committee was appointed to work on this project with the Home Agents. The Home Agents with this committee visited Sears and Roebuck Store in Greensboro and asked them for a donation for the kitchen. They very graciously accepted this request and gave us a double" compartment sink for our kitchen. Of course, we were more than de lighted with this grift. We then contacted the cabinet maker in our county and tmade plans with him for building cabinets for the kitchen as well as storage cabinets for the office space. He made all these cabinets for us for a cost of $324.00 which was paid by the County Council treasurer. Then' we decided that we certainly would like to have a refrigerator and an electric range. We visited the dealers for comparing prices. We finally decided to get a Hotpoint electric range and a Kelvinator refrigerator from the Duke Power Company. They sold both of these two items to us on the school plan. We paid approximately $336.00 for both of these items. Here again the County Council paid this bill. We then began thinking how we could fmake our floors more attractive. The commissioners had the floors sanded for us. The women then decided to have asphalt tile put on all of the floors. This was done at a price of $120.00 which was paid by the County Council. The women purchased v Venetian blinds for all of the windows, the county commissioners *had the office painted light green as well as the cabinets. S < * V . i We are indeed happy over our new office quarters. We have a small office 10x15, and our kitchen is 17jc27. By hiring this larger space, we have been able to have special interesting meetings in our kitchen laboratory as well as use it when we have County Council meetings for serving refreshments. We feel that the addition of our new kitchen has been indeed a great step toward improving our work. The women have all made contributions toward getting it equipped and they feel that it is really theirs to use and enjoy. o Out-Of-Season Turkey Hunting Cost Men $81 Troy, April 24 — Alvin Brock, 3.1, of Uwharrie, and Aired Brock, 20, of Norwood, were found guilty of hunting turkeys out of season in Montgomery.
