Women’s Drive Successful A successful membership drive for the Hospital Auxiliary was re ported today by Mrs. J. C. Woodley, chairman of the Membership Com mittee. Mrs. Woodley wishes to thank all those helping in the drive and to welcome all new members as well as those persons renewing their membership in the organiza tion. Mrs. Henrv Hart of Tryon is treasurer of the Auxiliary this year, and persons desiring to join who wore not contacted during the drive, mav send their yearly dues of SI to Mrs. Hart, the chairman said. GWATHMEY—CHAPMAN Dr. and M’-s. Edward Moselev Gwathmev of Spartanburg an nounce the engagement of then daughter. Marv Winston Gwath mev, to Robert Foster Chanman, lieutenant junior grade. United States Naval Reserve, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Alfred Chapman, also of Spartanburg. Miss Gwathmev and Mr. Chap man will be married at high noon Eridav. Dec. 21st, in the Church of the Advent, Episcopal. No form al invitations have been issued, but friends are invited to attend the ceremony. Mr. Chapman, who served for thr^e ypars with the U. S. Navv in World War II, has been recalled to active duty and will report to Guam immediately after Christmas. The bride-to-be is a niece of Mrs. W. E. Bates of Tryon, and the groom-to-be is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Jackson of Tryon. Both youner people have often been guests in the commu nity. Mrs. William C. Hooker and baby daughter of Lynn, was dis charged from St. Luke’s Hospital. There were no admissions. Miss Kathryn Pye, a junior at Winthrop College, Rock Hill, S. C., spent the week-end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Pye, and will, return Thursday for the Christmas holidays. m The Business Woman’s Circle of the Landrum First Baptist Church will meet Tonight at 7:30 in the young people’s building at the church. Mrs. Baylis Christopher, Mrs. Andrew Steadman and Mrs. Joe Bagwell are hostesses. Miss Sally Goodyear of Meredith College, Raleigh, will arrive home Wednesday for the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward R.
