Tryon Daily Bulletin, Fri., Mar. 7, 1980 Meets Thursday Women for Constitutional Gov ernment will meet Thursday, March 13 at the Polk County Library at 2:30 p.m. The speaker will be Enid Griswold past president of National DAR, Hendersonville. The topic will be “Why Is Our Nation Abandoning Our Heritage of Freedom?” CON VERSE COLLEGE TRAVEL SHOW SPARTANBURG, S. C. - Converse College will present an “Oriental Odyssey” Wednesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. Hartness Auditorium. Admission is free and public is invited to attend. World Travelers Albert in the and Ruby Flaccoe will present the program of slides and lecture- demonstrations on nine countries — New. Guinea, Bali, Sabah (Borneo), Mindanao, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. Mrs. Flaccoe is a Converse alumna. Both she and Mr. Flaccoe are talented musicians. They have collected numerous musical instruments from around the world and other art objects native to 'the countries they have visited. Mrs. Flaccoe is a native of Jefferson. After graduating from Converse, she did graduate work in piano and voice at Chicago Musical College, Peabody Con servatory, Julliard Institute, and Columbia Teachers College. She met Mr. Flaccoe while studying at Peabody Conservatory. He was a cellist with the Baltimore Symphony and taught music at Annapolis while with the U. S. Navy. The Flaccoes try to bring a feeling for each country to their presentations. They have numer ous stories and unusual customs from every land they have visited.
