May Art Exhibit The Arts League of Henderson County will present its Month of May Art Exhibit in Hepburn Hall of Opporunity House, 319 Flem ing Street, Hendersonville, open ing with a reception from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 4. The reception and exhibit are open to the public. The May exhibit will include a variety of paintings in all media by members of the Arts League. Featured will be paintings of Sarah Sneeden of Cedar Moun tain, N. C. Sarah Sneeden graduated from Centenary College in N. J. where she studied art. She also studied with artists R. Nichols in Florida, J. Rome in Arizona, the Cortez School of Art, the Famous Artists School, and at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Her award winning portraits and landscapes in oil and her sketches in acrylic have been shown in many solo and group exhibitions. These include the Flat Rock Playhouse, Schroed er’s Gallery in Asheville, Tryon Fine Arts Center, the Dutch Inn, the /\dded Touch, Ramada Inn, Brevard Chamber of Commerce, Brevard Music Center, and Hendersonville Sidewalk Art Show. Auburn University, Florida State University, Univer sity of Florida, Mississippi State University and others have exhibited her paintings. She has done portraits of many university students. Her studio reflects the extent of her work. She is a part time art teacher at the Blue Ridge Technical College, a student at the New York Institute of Photography, and a participant in the John Sandens National Portrait Semi nar in New York. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women. At one time she was engaged in advertising art in Kentucky. She is associated with “Ruth of Carolina” in Hendersonville, a producer of children’s fashions, doing pen and ink sketches for its national advertising. Danny Jackson won the two-mile and mile to lead the Landrum boys. BUY ACREAGE Everette E. Butler has pur chased 13.58 acres on Red Fox Road from Mrs. Ollie Fowler. This was formerly part of the Carl Griswold property. Bud Campbell was the broker. DUPLICATE BRIDGE Results of the Tryon Duplicate Bridge Thursday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanislas Czetwertynski were as follows: North-South: 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver 0. Paulsell, 2nd. Mrs Charles Green and Mrs. L. M. Davis. East-West: 1st. Jack Watson and Mrs. Miles White; 2nd. Mrs. Earl Carter and Mrs. Bert Anderson.
