Mrs. McEIreath Thelma Mae Shehan MeEl- " ifc ° f Dew cv r ^^ ° f Route 21 Wellford S. C died Saturday morning in Spartanburg General Hospital after an extended illness. A native of Polk County, N C she was a daughter of the late Zeb and Lillie Thompson Price. She was a member of Manus Chapel Church. She was first married to the late Floyd Shehan. Also surviving: daughters Mrs. Doris Cash of Spartanburg, Mrs. Jean Rollins of Landrum, Mrs. Pat McGuinn of Mill Spring sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Padgett of Union Mill, Mrs. Cornelia Sprouse and Mrs. Kathleen Roberts of Spartanburg, Mrs. Alice McIntyre of Columbus, Mrs. Shirley Andrews of Lyman; brothers. Woodrow Price of Rutherfordton, James Price of Lyman; six grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p m ‘Monday at McFarland Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Michael D. Smith, Furman Jackson and John Godfrey officiating. Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens. Pink Melton Pink Melton, 88, husband of Mrs. Lena Russell Melton of Rt. 3, Inman, S. C. died Friday. A native of North Carolina he was a son of the late Romeo and Isabella Toney Melton. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Holy Springs Baptist Church. Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Nell Dotson of Forest City, Mrs. Cora Brady, Mrs. Mary Long and Mrs. Rosetta Morrow of Duncan, S. C., Mrs. Eva Mae Pratt of Charlotte. Mrs. Goldie Ouzts of Brunswick, Ga., Mrs. Juanita Elkins and Mrs. Bessie Pittman of Greer; stepdaughter, Mrs. Rachel Babb of Greenville; son, Olin Melton of Campobello; sisters, Mrs. Hattie Toney and Mrs. Della Mae Dyer of Tryon, Mrs. Lillie Belle Spurlin and Mrs. Margaret Pack of Columbus, Mrs. Vannie Bager of Delray Beach, Fla.; 22 grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, four step-grandchildren, 4 step- great- grandchildren Services were held Sunday at 4 p m at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial in Wood Memorial Park. Wood Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. The Bulletin. 10c Per Copy Mrs. Virginia Blanton irginia Edney Blanton, 56, of Route 1, Columbus died Saturday ,n St Luke’s Hospital. Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of Marion Estelle Butler Edney of Tryon and the late R Grayson Edney. She was a former manager of Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Ser vice for several years. She was a member of Columbus Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are a son, John E. Blanton of Burnsville; two brothers. Robert Emerson Edney of South Boston, Va., and James H. Edney of Tryon; and two grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Columbus Baptist Church. The Rev. Fred Rhodes officiated Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Columbus Baptist Church. McFarland Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Young Citizen Mary Metcalf This pretty young girl is Mary Metcalf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Metcalf of Tryon. Mary is 9 years old. A naitve of Spartanburg County he was a retired farmer and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Katie Harper, Mrs. Charlotte Parker and Mrs. Margaret Robinson of Asheville, Mrs. Mammie Staggs and Miss Irene Miller of Inman; 21 grandchildren. C. - North Carolina National Bank will open a representative office in Sao Paulo, Brazil to expand its business in Latin American markets. Approval of the new office has been granted by the Banco Central Do Brasil (Central Bank of Brazil), and NCNB is negotiating for suitable office space in the financial district of Sao Paulo. Hugh McColl, president of NCNB, said Latin America has been a vital part of the bank’s foreign business for several years. “Brazil, especially, is consid ered one of the most attractive markets of the world by major coporations. Having an office in Sao Paulo will allow us to be even more successfully involved in Brazilian import-export activi ties and in the correspondent banking business,” McColl said.
