Worthington Homes 457-3104 Spoleto Trip A three-day trip by chartered bus to the Spoleto Festival in Charleston recently was over-subsrcibed with a full busload of 46 and a waiting list indicates future such activities might be very wel come. The trip was planned and escorted by Lee Mueller, Direc tor of Volunteers in the Tryon Community Schools, with the help of E(nmie Mackay, Director of Career Awareness in the same office. Joe Wray, who heads the Community Schools Project, said it was a way of doing something nice for the people in the Tryon area, since the citizenry helps the schools with thousands of volunteer hours a year. Other activities put together by the Community Schools have been Super Saturday, Model United Nations, and the use of school land for community gardens, to name only a few. The Spoleto trip was pure fun from beginning to end, with everything dovetailing due to careful planning to include Spoleto performances, sight-see ing, and dining in Charleston’s famous reasturants. The partici pants made their own choices well in advance from the Festival’s rich offerings of music, theatre and dance. The last evening, after the premiere of Arthur Miller’s new play, “The American Clock,” the group met on the rooftop refreshment area of the Francis-Marion Hotel, where they could watch the city and the harbor and discuss their adventures. Those making the trip were: Louise Siler, Rose White, Elizabeth Heise, Harriett Rock efeller, Doris Chevalier, Barbara McClintock, Helen Wilkes, Mar iam Bryan, Eleanor Kennedy, Barbara Keffer, Lucille and Lionel Davis, Dorothy and Al Daniels, Queenie and Joe Thur ber, Jeanette and Miles White, Marge and Jack Wheaton, Floss and Harvey Woltman, Anne Sev ier, Gertrude Schoff, Irene Swin- ey, Chaney Thompson, Anne and Walter Culin, Elizabeth and Freeman Brooks, Bunny and Harry Bates, Ruby and Ken Smith, Harriott and Clark Albee, Sadie McKaig, Alice Tennant, Jean Gratner, Phyllis Prout Marguerite Voso, Marjorie Reev es, Dorothy Leopold, Amy Mueller, Emmie Mackay and Lee Mueller.
