Tryon Daily Bulletin, Tues., July 29, 1980 Curb Reporter Continued From Page One rattled residents Sunday in at least 14 slates from Michigan to South Carolina and in parts of Canada. No deaths or injuries were reported, but hundreds of buildings in Kentucky have min or damage. It was felt in Spartan burg and Greenville counties, but no one reported feeling it here. A one-car accident took place late Sunday afternoon near Silver Creek Baptist Church. Highway Patrolman Don Moran investi gated the accident. Timothy Cantrell, 20, of Forest City was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises and released. Softball Tourney Starts Saturday The 9th annual Tri-County Softball Tournament will get underway Saturday at Harmon Field. A portable 285 ft. fence will be used. Dean Smith, Director, staled that 30 teams have entered — 24 men and 6 women. Sat., Aug. 2nd games will be from 3 to 11; Sun.,'Aug. 3rd, 1 to 10 pm ; Mon. — Fri.: 6:30-10:30. There will be no games Sat., Aug. 9 or Sun. Aug. 10. William David Fox of Tryon was the winner. Mrs. Sarah Harris Mrs. Sarah Scroder Harris of Spartanburg, widow of Joseph W. Harris, died Saturday at 2 a.m. in Pinewood Convalescent Center after a long illness. A native of Aiken, S. C., she was a daughter of the late Henry and Florence Courtnay Scorder. She was formerly associated with Converse College and was a member of the Episocpal Church of the Advent. She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Richard E. Mitchell of Spartanburg and Mrs. Florence H. Copeland of Chapel Hill; sisters, Mrs. Florence Hipp of Spartanburg and Mrs. Mildred Kinard of Greenwood, S. C.; brother, Henry N. Scroder of Southbury, Conn.; five grand children and five great-grand children. Graveside services were held Sunday in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mary Black Memorial Hospital or to charity. Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
