Thirty-six Spartanburg County
students and their bus driver
were injured Monday afternoon
when the brakes on their school
bus failed and the bus
overturned Five studenLs were
admitted to the hospital. There
were 60 students aboard the bus
at the time of the accident which
occured about a half mile from S.
C. Hwy. 11 at Fingerville.
Tuesday's Spartanburg Herald
had an article by Michael
Leonard on the Iron Horse Guild
of Spartanburg. The article is
accompanied by a picture of
owner Dan Williams and Guild
framer Bob Burgin arranging
paintings.
Pope John Paul II arrived in
Manila Tuesday morning to begin
a 12-day “peace mission." He
was in Pakistan on Monday.

Mrs. Correll is the former
Elizabeth Kerhulas of Tryon. She
is a graduate of Tryon High
School and Winthrop College
where she received her A.B. in
English and Education. She
received her Master of Arts in
Teaching at Converse College
and did graduate work at Wofford
College, N. C. State University
and Western Carolina University.
She taught at Rutherford
Spindale High 1938-39 and worked
with Tryon Bank & Trust Co
until she entered the Women’s
Reserve U. S. Marine Corps,
March 4. 1944 to Mar. 20, 1946

meeting of Tryon Rotary in the
Pacolet River Plantation. At 9:30

21, he will speak at the Kick Off
Breakfast for Heart Fund
