INSIDE A CLASSIFIEDS A DEATHS A ENTERTAINMENT A RELIGION A BUSINESS Sports West Forsyth Takes Home Track Meet Holding 4-0 Record By DEBY JO FERGUSON Chronicle Sports Writer ; West Forsyth ladies took the home track meet holding a 4-0 record after a score of 91 1/2 against Mount Tabor who scored 71 1/2, Reynolds scored 48, and Parkland 44. The results from each division were as follows. In the long jump first place was taken by Lennox from Parkland High School with a leap of 15' 2". Second place went to Acker from Reynolds and third by Wilson, also of Reynolds. In the high jump first place went to Sipek from Mt. Tabor with a height of 4' 10". Second place was captured by Shaver from West Forsyth and third by Peoples from Reynolds. First place was taken by Spencer from West Forsyth in the Discus competition with a throw of 82' 3". Second place went to Smith from Park land and in third place was Sledge, also of Parkland. First place in the shot put was captured by Sledge from Parkland High School with a distance of 26' 9 1/2". Spencer, from West Forsyth took sec ond place and Smith took third for Parkland. See More Track Photos On Page B4 Competing in the triple jump, first place was grabbed by Worthy from Reynolds with a distance of 29' 2 1/2". Miller took second place for Park land and Stangi from West Forsyth finished third. In the 3,200 relay West Forsyth's Anderson, Allen, Smith and Queen seized first place in a time of 1 1:14.16. Mount Tabor finished second and Parkland took third. Thrift from Reynolds High School finished in first place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.02 seconds. Jenkins, from Mt. Tabor finished second and McKoy took third for Mt. Tabor. In the 100 meter race first place went to Razzale from Mt. Tabor High School with a time of 13.32 seconds. The tournament pits All-Stars from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) against the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIA O in the opening round game at 7 p.m. on Fri -day, April 23, while the Southwestern Athletic Con - ference (SWAC) All-Stars take on the MEAC later that eveniqg. The MEAC All-Stars along with Robinson are Dekm Turner (6'5 forward) from Florida A&M, All Meac and conference leader in scoring at 21 .5 points per game, Malik White (6*9 forward) from Morgan,, Donell Thomas (6*9 forward) from Delaware State, Charles Solomon (6'9 center) from Howard, and Thomas Garner forward) from North Carolina A&T to round out the front court. White lead the conference in block shots with 50 for the year while placing second in rebounding with nine bpards a game, Thgmas, another strong re bound er averaged wSght boards and 10 points. Brown place aecond in the conference in^ssii 124, white Kimbrew was more of a scoring threat, averaging 17 points. VI The remaining two guards are Darryl Cheeley from North Carolina A&T, the league leader in three point percentage and Robert Riddick from Howard, a consistent guard who averaged nine points a game. Reynolds Track Team Wins Competition By DEBY JO FERGUSON Chronicle Sports Writer r Reynolds High School boy's track team walked away with a team victory after defeating. Mt. Tabor, Parkland and West Forsyth last week at West Forsyth High School Track Meet. In the long jump 1st place was taken by Davis of Reynolds High School who leaped a distance of 20' 3". Second place went to Gaines also from Reynolds and third place was taken by Smith from West Forsyth. Davis, from Reynolds High took first place in the high jump with a height of 6' 1". Second place was mas tered by Smith from West Forsyth, with third going to Glenn also from West Forsyth. Competing in the Discus, Jones from Mt. Tabor threw 131' 1" to capture first place. Second place was seized by Kaserman of West Forsyth, and third place went to Witherspoon from Parkland. In the shot put first place went to Jones from Mt. Tabor with 45-7. Second place went to Ellison from Mt. Tabor, and taking third was Martin from West Forsyth The triple jump was taken by Saunders from Mt. Tabor with a distance of 42' 1 1". Second place was held by Thomas from Reynolds High School and in third place was Hayes, also from Reynolds. In the 3,200 Relay first place went to West Forsyth, Vasar, Pack, Tewes, and Strohl with a time of 8:57.55. In second was Mount Tabor and third was taken by Reynolds. Millner, from Reynolds High School took first place in the 110 Hurdles in 15.60 minutes. Second place belonged to James, from Reynolds High School and third place was taken by Gaines, also from Reynolds. Gullick finished first in the 100 meter race in a time of 10.93 seconds. Second place was held by R. West from Mt. Tabor High School and finishing in third was D. West from West Forsyth. In the 800 meter relay first place went to Mt. Tabor's, West, Malone. In the 400 meter race Gullick from Reynolds High School finished first with a time of 51.65. Malone of Mt. Tabor took second and Hayes from Reynolds fin ished third. Taking first place in the 300 meter hurdles was Millner from Reynolds, crossing the finish line in 41.64 seconds. Bush, from West Forsyth took second and Gaines finished third for Reynolds. First place was taken by Tewes from West Forsyth - Mount Tabor and West Forsyth are dead-to in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:12.04. Vassar, from West Forsyth took second place. In the 200 meter race first place was clinched by Gullick from Reynolds High school with a time of 22.86 seconds. R. West from Mt. Tabor finished second and third place went to D. West of Mt. Tabor. First place in the 3,200 meter race was taken by Blount of Mt. Tabor in a time ofl 0:32.23. Second place went to Villegas from West Forsyth and third went to one at the beginning of of the hurdles race. Davis1 from Mt. Tabor High School. Reynolds High School's Thomas, Hayes, Millner and Gulick finished in first place in the 1,600 meter relay scoring a time of 3:37.9. Second place went to West Forsyth and third went to Mt. Tabor.
