Deaths and Funerals Russell's Funermi Home 822 Carl Russell Ave. 722-3459 WHARTON Mazella Black Wharton of 1001 Castle St. in Baltimore died April 7 at her home. She was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Nelson of Clem mons and attended Capernaum Church of Christ in Clemmons. She attended the Nelson Preparatory School and was married to the late Paul T. Wharton. The couple had two children, Paul and Thomasene. The Whartons moved to Norfolk, Va. in the 1940s and lived in New York before settling in Baltimore. Wharton is survived by a daughter, Thomasene Wharton of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Wharton of Cleveland; plus many other relatives and friends. Services were held Wednesday in the Russell Funeral Home Chapef Burial followed in Capernaum Church of Christ Cemetery in Clemmons. Russell Funeral Directors handled arrangements. WILSON Stacy Norman Wilson of Christian Care Center, formerly of 1631 N. Claremont Ave., died April 8 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. ? He was a native of Pender County. He was bom to the late Promise Leslie and Willie Belle Wilson. He lived in Winston Salem for 55 years. He was a former employee of Biltmore Dairy Farms and an employee of Farmers Dairy until his retirement. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church in his younger years. He was dearly loved. He was preceded in death by one daughter. Marietta Wilson. Wilson is survived by five daughters, Elma (Earnest) Stevens of Clinton, N.C., and Alma Wilson, Eleanor W. Ford, Janet Wilson and Sharon Wilson, all of Winston-Salem; two sons, Ralph,(Mary) Wilson of Santa Anna, Calif, and Leander Wilson of Winston-Salem; 13 grandchildren; two great-grand children; two brothers, Willie (Ann) Wilson of New York and Isiah Wilson of Washington; many nieces and nephews; plus many other relatives and friends. Services were held Wednesday in the Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James Fulwood officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. She was a native of Wadesboro but had lived in Winston Salem for 1 1 years. She was a member of Shining Light Apos tolic Church in Reidsville. Davis is survived by her husband, Joseph Davis of the home; one daughter, Yolanda Renee McCoy of the home; two sons, Michael Wayne Davis and Anthony Tyrone Davis, both of the home; one granddaughter, Leondra Renee bailey of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Norma Jean Parks of New York and Beulah Mae Pender of Winston-Salem; one brother, Jonathan McCoy of Marvin, N.C.; plus many other relatives and friends. Services were held April 9 in the Frances S. and Jerry C. Gilmore Jr. Memorial Chapel, with Elder James Leak officiat ing. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Gilmore Funeral Directors handled arrangements. HANCOCK Mary Hancock of 2517 Fairchild Road died April 5 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Winston-Salem and a former employ ee of Caretakers for Elderly. Hancock is survived by two daughters, Millicent D. Han cock of Winston-Salem and Tameka Hancock of Winston Salem; three sons, Zachery Hapcock and Michael Hancock, both of Winston-Salem, and Terry Hancock of Tennessee; one sister, Rosa Marie Miller of Winston-Salem; one brother, Cor nell Hancock of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; plus many other relatives and friends. Services were held April 8 in the Frances S. and Jerry C. Gilmore Jr. Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. J.R. Samuels offi ciating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Gilmore Funeral Directors handled arrangements. THOMAS Evelyn Squarewell Thompson Thomas of 312 Glenn Ave. died April 2 at her home. She was a native of Winston-Salem and a retired employ ee of the Forsyth County Department of Social Services, where she worked as a chore provider. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she was secretary of the Nurses' Board. She was a member of Kimberly Park Resource Center. Thomas is survived by four daughters, Gwendolyn T. Conrad, Sandra T. Conrad, Michelle Thompson and Johnnie Mae Thompson, all of Winston-Salem; three sons, Tyrone Thompson and Michael Thompson, both of Winston-Salem, and Toney Thompson of Charlotte, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildreA; six step-children; a step-mother, Rachel Hayes Thompson of Uniontown, Pa.; two sisters, Eugenia King Thompson and Hattie M. Shaw, both of Win ston-Salem; two brothers, Willie Thompson and Wilford Thompson, both of Winston-Salem; six half-brothers and three half-sisters; three devoted friends, Willie Mae Ross, Wilbur Clarke and Evelyn Clarke, all of Winston-Salem; a very devot ed niece, Cheryl Jean Keaton of Winston-Salem; a very devot ed son-in-law, Arthur Thomas of Winston-Salem; plus many other relatives and friends. WILSON Joann Wilson of 201 1 N. Trade St. died April 6 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She was a native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Paisley High School. She attended Winston-Salem State University. She was a former employee of National Linen Service. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Wilson is survived by three daughters, Syvera Wilson of Fayetteville, Sylcenia Wilson of Winston-Salem and Sabrina Wilson of the home; Jwo sons, Marguette Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Quincey Wilson of the home; seven grand children; one sister, Dessie Wilson of Winston-Salem; one brother, Frederick Coleman of Winston-Salem; a devoted friend, Florence Beasley of Winston-Salem; a devoted friend, Marion Lockhart Jr. of Winston-Salem; plus many other rela tives and friends.
