Women's and Men's Tennis
In the women's division, Howard
won all three douhle matches and three of
the six singles to accumulate 33 points and
its second straight MEAC championship. -
Larry Strickland of Howard was named
the Outstanding Coach for the division,
while Morgan's State's Delise O'Meally
was voted the Outstanding Performer.
O'Mealiy defeated Stephanie Johnson
of Howard in the number one singles 6-3,
3-6, 6-1. In other singles, Sherrie Barnes
of FAMU defeated LaShawn Jones of
Howard 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4); Chishona
Husband of Howard defeated Jerometta

In the men's division, FAMU won
four of the six singles and all three dou
bles for 34 points and its third consecutive
MEAC Tennis Championship crown.
FAMU's Robert mungan was named the
Outstanding Coach and his star pupil Suru
Balogan was voted the Outstanding Per
former in the men's division. Balogun
took the number one singles by defeating
Sc State's Brian Burke 6-4, 6-4. In other
singles, Chris Buris of FAMU defeated

Zawdie Jackson of SC State defeated

Track and Field
In women's track, FAMU accumulat
ed 1 14 total points to grab the champi
onship and its mentor Bobby Lang was
tabbed the Most Outstanding Coach.
FAMU star Dana Kaigler, who won the
long jump, the triple jump, and the 100
meter hurdles; was named the Most Out
standing Performer.
Also, the two new MEAC records
were set and another tied. In the shotput,
Del State's Dana Walker had a toss of
44' 10" to break FAMU's Tiffany Daugh
try's 44' mark set in 1990. Diana Pitts of
Coppin ran the 1500 meters in 4:35.19 to
Chris Gary of FAMU clears 7'4" 1 12 and sets a new MEAC high jump record.

by FAMU's Donya Andrews-Little. In
the high jump, SC State's Laquita Throw
er leaped 5 '8" to tic the record set by
Howard's Sharon Rose in 1981.

went to FAMU's Keith Blake, who won
the 4(M) meter hurdles, was a member of
the winning 16(H) meter relay team, and
placed second in the 4(X) meter dash.
Chris Gary of FAMU set the only
new men's record by clearing the high
jump bar at 7*4". The old mark was 7'2"
set in 1981 by Doxie Alston of FAMU,
Dwayne McClairen of B-CC, and Sher
man Washington of Howard.
Coppin Stale's Diana Pitts leads Florida A&M's Jerri Sutton on the 1500
meters. Pitts sets a new record with a time of 4:33.19.
In men's track, FAMU ran away with
the title by scoring 176 points to its near
est competitor's 77. Lang also coaches
the Rattler men and garnered the top coach
award. The Outstanding Performer award
