Religion NOTES & BRIEFS ? Women's Auxiliary Names New President Mary J. Crank has been named the new president of the Woman's Auxiliary of the High Point Educa tional and Missionary Baptist Asso ciation. Crank is the wife of William Crank. She is an llth-grade teacher at West Forsyth High School, where she is chairman of the English department, She attended the Win ston-Salem/Forsyth County schools. She received an undergraduate degree from North Carolina A&T State University and a master's degree from Appalachian State Uni versity. Crank has also taught in Wilkesboro. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 1988. Crank is a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she is involved in a number of auxil iaries. She is also a former organist for the Sunday choir and senior choir. ^ ? Crank has been a member of the woman's auxiliary for over 15 years. ? Woman Honored Annie M. Lewis was recently honored for 35 years of mission, work and 12 years as president of the Woman's Auxiliary of the High Point Educational and Missionary Baptist Association at a pre-conven tion fellowship banquet at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Greensboro. More than 200 family members and friends gathered to honor Lewis' tenure as president. Priscilla Brodie, executive sec retary-treasurer of the Woman's sdJ Annie M. Lewis Baptist Home and Foreign Mission was the keynote speaker. Lewis is the widow of the late Rev. James R. Lewis Sr. and a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. During Lewis' administration, the missionary auxiliary grew. Pro grams for scholarships, special benevolent funds, a conventionaL choir, a ministers' wives and wid ows fellowship and other projects were initiated. ? Mary J. Crank succeeds Lewis as president of the auxiliary. Homecoming Bethania A.M.E. Zion Church will celebrate its homecoming and revival beginning Aug. 1. Worship will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. Donald C. Holness Sr., pastor, will deliver the sermon. The Senior Choir will render songs of praise. The Rev. Seth O. Lartey, pastor of Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, will be the guest minister at the 3 p.m. service. The choirs of Goler will render selections. Revival services will be held Aug. 2-6 at 7:30 pjn. nightly. The REv. Herbert R. Warren, pastor of Clinton Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church in Hickory will be the speaker. Musical renditions will be given by the Bethania Senior Choir , John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church, Rachel Sheff, the Brothers and Sis ters of the Scott Family and the Clinton Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church. The public is invited. ? She has served at Kimber ly Park Holy Church, Fellowship Baptist Church, White Rock Baptist Church and St. Mark Baptist Church. She has also served partici pated in ministries at Cleveland Avenue Homes and outreach to otljer neighborhoods. She has had at least 10 years of prophetic ministry experience and seven years of evan gelical ministry. She has been the pastor of God's Glory for five years and an ordained bishop/overseer for three years. She has had a radio ministry on WSMX 1500 radio, station called "Good Morning, Holy Spirit" for nearly 10 months. The program airs Thursday mornings at 7 a.m. She is a native of Winston-Salem. In addition to her work at God's Glory, Farris has worked as a bish op/overseer at New Life Church, Upper Room Church, Higher Ground Faith and Healing Assem blies, Greater Deliverance Church of the Living God, New Solid Rock Pentecostal Bible Way Church No. 1 and 2 and Redeemer Assembly of Jesus Christ Apostolic Church. She is also a member of Apos tolic World Christian Fellowship, the Ministers' Coalition and the Ministers' Conference. Under her ministry, several members of churches have become licensed pas tors. Clinical Pastor Jimmie Lee Bonham Jimmie Lee Bonham has com pleted the requirements for clinical pastoral education at Bowman GrayJ School of Medicine. The School of Pastoral Care at North Carolina Baptistjlospital recently certified Bonham for com pletion of the requirements. r Bonham is a 1978 graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration with a concentration in economics. He did post baccalaureate studies at the pastor's school at Wake Forest University and Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh.
