Services to Be Held The true Temple Holiness Church of God will be celebrating its Dedication Week Oct. 18-24 at 627 Alexander St. The True Temple Holineaa Church was founded by Elder Wal lace Gaither Jr. God gave him a* vision to start his own church in July 1976. Gaither along with his wife and family devoted 10 years to the church, before moving to its cur rent location at 1232 Mint St. The public is invited to help dedicate the santuary back to God. SECCA will inaugurate its Southern sightings & beyond series with the Moving Star Sings on Nov. 5. ; The singing and shouting of the Moving Star Singers bear wit ness to a crucial link in the evolu tion of one of the world's great choral traditions, that of Black American congregational-style singing. The Moving Star Singers a a family group spanning Two gener ations. Together they possess a rich treasury of knowledge, wisdom, and South Carolina sea island folk expression. Mineral Springs School Begins Tutorial Program I Students, their parents and fac ulty at Mineral Springs Elementary School participated in a orientation ^ to kick off a tutorial program orr~ Sept. 29. Chlories P. Shore, the school's assistant principal, delivered greet ings. Vicki Felty, a teacher, summa rized the program. The seven-month program will serve nearly 34 students in kinder garten through fifth grade who live | in the Oak Creek neighborhood I within the school's community. The program will operate in an Oak Creek apartment donated by Walker Realty. The school's faculty, social worker and liaison officer will serve as adult role models and assist in homework, reading and sharing quality time. Lowe's Foods of Stanleyville and Paragon Foods will provide daily snacks. The school hopes to achieve the following goals through the pro gram: improve attendance; improve reading vocabulary for minority and high-risk students; improve math concepts for minority and high risk students; and improve the home school relationship. ?
