Myth about separation of church and state SptcUi tpTm C'hhonk u For man> ; cars, there has been very healed debate on taking prayer out of the schools. Many parents felt there was no way out. Thanks to a 50-year-old Supreme Court ruling and an innovative program experimented by Hanes Memorial CME, Galilee Mission ary Baptist Church and Goler Memorial AME Zion Church, churches and parents can finally learn how they can legally impart the spiritual, moral and ethical values in their children during the school day. The program, "Released Rev. Lartey Time," is "being over whelmingly accepted across the state by par ents, educa tors and churches. The Bladen county Board of Education and the Bladen County Ministers Alliance have recently endorsed having the program in their school system, and training has been set for parents and churches in the Fayetteville area as well. By putting this program into effect in our school system, par ents and churches can literally change the outcome in a child's life, deterring violence and drugs, and instilling values not taught in school systems today. Citizens will gather to find out more information about the pro gram on Saturday, Sept. 8, begin ning at 9 a.m.. at 630 N. Patterson Ave. Rev. Seth O. Lartey of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church will be the facilitator. There will be a small registration fee to cover the materials. For additional infor mation, call the church office. 724-9411.
