Outreach prayer revival blesses inmates, families and friends Spuial n>Tiu Chkunmu Community, pastors, friends, parents of inmates, children of inmates and ex-offender's came together in prayer, praises and the Word at Grace United Com munity Baptist Church, where Joseph Parks is pastor The prayer revival was an electrifying one for those who haven't seen miraculous things happen. Inmate families cried out because people cared about their sons and daughters who are incarcerated. Youths of the incarcerated sang praises to the Lord and joined in with prayer. Intercessory prayer was held inside on Monday and Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30, but on Wednesday night it was held outside in the parking lot. Thir ty prayer warriors, including family members, came together, praying for incarcerated family members, drug users, alcoholics, prostitutes, the sick and shut-ins. and the needy. As the anointed sounds of two young musicians 10-year old Marcus Mosley and 8-year old Zyrale Jeter filled the sanc tuary, people were amazed. Some shouted, some lifted up their hands, and some hollered. "Lord, we just thank you." The sermons were centered toward the theme "A Cry in the Wilderness." On Monday night. Evangelist Paulette Pouncey from Greater Cleveland Avenue Church. where Sheldon McCarter is pastor, preached about " A Different Cry" (John 1:1-6). P o u n c e y spoke out about her past life. She based her topic on the cries of the needy.' drug addicts, the Pastor Wilkins Sr. incarcerated, young girls or young males who were raped, children who are hungry, young mothers who are single and without a job. She said that most Christians have experienced these things. She just wanted to know if they can hear the cry. She did a call to discipleship. Four people came to renew their lives, and one came for salva tion. Many came to the altar for prayer and rededication. Joy Rivers, Denise Oglesby and New World CappadOcia Mass Choir sang on Monday night. Tuesday night was an evening of praise and worship with the Bishop Melvjn Wilkins Jr. New Generation Praise and Worship Christian Center's Praise Team and choir provided music for the evening. Bishop Wilkins Jr. exhorted the people with the message of "Am I My Brother's Keeper?" The text came from the book of Philemon. He began by saying that the strong have to bear the infirmities of the weak. He shouted out about how some people shy away from people who are drunk, on drugs, no detent clothes, homeless, ex cons. He said that we as Chris tians need to love these people He said Paul set an example in Philemon. While in prison Paul wrote Philemon about his slave who had received Christ while in prison. Paul asked Philemon to take the slave back as a brother in Christ. Wednesday night, prayers were manifested because on Tuesday two inmates from the Forsyth County Correction Cen ter were released and late Tues day evening another inmate was released. His first stop was Grace United Community Church. He stood and testified about getting released, and one hour later he was telling about getting out of jail on prayer. He was going to serve God. As tears ran down his cheeks, he thanked Pastor Calvin Oglesby and Pas tor Melvin "Rip" Wilkins Sr. for their support while he was incar cerated. The night ended with a touching topic. "A Cry in the Wilderness" (John 1:19-22). Pas tor Melvin "Rip" Wilkins Sr. said that the wilderness experi ences are twofold: I). They can take you anywhere, from city to county, to countries, to nothing. 2) Wilderness experiences may be an opportunity where we become more focused on our life's mission or the opportunity to come face to face with God. He said the danger of a wilderness experience is going without God. ! | Pastor & First Lady Samuels "A full service ministry - Meeting the Needs of the Peo i $ / pie. Spirit, Soul & Body."
