Payne, Crowell Wed SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Yasmine Nicole Payne and Juwon Akeem Crowell were married on Saturday, May 19 at the Dalton-McCoy Memorial Garden in Winston Salem. The Rev. Donald E. McCoy and the Rev. Napoleon Crowell officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of David A. Payne of Cleveland, Ohio and Paula J. McCoy of Winston-Salem. The groom is the son of Napoleon and Patricia Crowell of Winston-Salem. The hostesses were Kristi Deleon, Tamara Gregory, Christina Poole, Jasmine Ndiaye and Jamestris Dubose. The ushers were Napoleon G. Crowell, Josh Crowell, Jalen Day, Matthew Stevenson, Marzerrick Williams and Marzerion Williams. The ring bearer was Marquan Williams, and flower girls were Harmoni Nicole Crowell (daughter of the bride and groom), Gene Williams and Faith Crowell. Music was provided by Mr. Bill's Production and the Small Rhythm Band. Daryl Shaw was the photographer and Akilah Shaw was the make-up artist. Decorations were provided by Yvonne Wingfield; the floral arrange ments were done by Wilson's Florist; and the cake was made by Marque. The newlyweds will reside in Winston-Salem. File Ptyxo Samaritan Ministries, which runs a much-needed shelter and soup kitchen, relies on help from support ers like First Presbyterian Church. Samaritan Ministries honors First Presbyterian SPECWtrretHE CHRONICLE For over 30 years, First Presbyterian Church has been a steadfast partner to Samaritan Ministries. To honor First Presbyterian's ongoing com mitment, Samaritan recog nized the church with its high est faith partner award, the Stimp Hawkins Servanthood Award, on May 23. The presentation took place during a special worship celebration at First Presbyterian, which is located on North Cherry Street. The noon service included a com plimentary soup lunch that was donated by the River Birch Lodge. During the serv ice, a love offering was col lected to benefit Samaritan Ministries, an interdenomina tional, volunteer-based Christian ministry in Winston Salem/Forsyth County serving the hungry, homeless and peo ple in need 365 days a year. Samaritan Ministries runs the Samaritan Soup Kitchen, Winston-Salem's only soup kitchen; Samaritan Inn; a 69 bed homeless shelter for men; and Project Cornerstone, a res idential substance abuse recovery program for men. Young singer to compete in national competition SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Taryn Bonner, a member of Winston-Salem First, has advanced to national compe tition of the Assemblies of God Youth Fine Arts program. She will compete in the vocal soloist division. The weeklong national festival and showcase will be held in Louisville, Ken. from Aug. 6 - Aug. 10. Taryn is a rising sopho more at Mt. Tabor high school, - where she has a GPA of 4.75 and received the "Most Valued Musician" award for her role in the school's concert choir. Taryn's interests include student ministry, print model ing and writing. She is work ing on her first book, "Breaking Through," a novel intended for the young teen audience. She plans to pursue a career in music and creative writing. Taryn is the daughter of Lemelia and Terry Bonner and the granddaughter of Maurice and the late Lemuel Johnson i ?? m i Taryn Bonner and Jean and Claude Bonner Jr. of Wilson.
