What previously was repor ted as an upcoming debate between the two candidates will in actuality not be a debate." The program we have scheduled does not have the format of a debate and is therfore simply a joint ap pearance," informed News Director Bill Ballard. The agenda for the thirty minute show will include 2 minute opening statements by each candidate and 60 seconds response time by each to the others opening statement. The remaining 24 minutes will find Mike Cozza and Barry Ah rendt of WBTV asking “ques tions they, as news reporters, deem pertinent to the cam paign,” stated Ballard. “We at WBTV view this program as an excellent op portunity for our viewers to examine the positions of both candidates as they appear side by side,” Ballard offered. “We shall continue to tho roughly cover the council race on our regular news program ming," he concluded. This program, being pro duced by the Mews Deparment of WBTV, will be one of a continuous line of news broad casts the station produces. Monday night, October 31, 9:30 p.m. on WBTV, Channel 3.
