Thursday. April 12, 1984 - THE THARLOTTE POST - Page 17A Bob Sampson Registered nurse Bob Sanip§cxi Receives Scholarship RN Bob Sampson, head nurse on 5 North at Mercy Hospital, received this year’s Marijean Thorn Scholarship in a recent ceremony at the hospital. The award is presented annuaily to a nurse who has exemplified excellence in the practice of nursing. “This year the award goes to someone who doesn’t meet the criteria - because it’s not a “she,”’ said Sister Kathryn Gal- ligan, vice president of nursing at Mercy, as she revealed the name of this year’s winner. But in praising Mr. Sampson’s achievements, Sister Kathryn made it ciear that he meets and surpasses the other criteria for receiving the award. She quoted a ietter writ ten by the staff on 5 North in support of Mr. Samp son’s nomination. “Through his energy and skiii, he provides the role model that motivates the staff to provide a high ievel of care for our patients.” “These characteristics not only are recognized by the staff and by our pa tients, blit also by fam ily members and physi cians. Bob is instrumental in setting and maintaining the high standards of care that Mercy is proud to re- nresent.” Mayfield Continued From Page 6A Music, ana the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sa cred Music. ’There will be choirs of adults, youth and children who will share in the play ing of the handbeils.
