In General Dentistry Ur, Davis Opens Private Practice -U7T- - ~~ — ■ *' ~ --- ™ _____ | * ‘ , - By Jalyae Strong Post Staff Writer This week Dr. Gwyn Davis hangs out her shingle denoting the estab lishment of her Private Practice in General dentistry. Her new office is located at 1012 S. Kings Dr., suite 206. In solo practice, Dr.: Davis runs the office with assistant, Susan Watts. A naUve of High Point, N.C., Davis received her BS in Biology from A&T University. She earned a Medical Technologist degree at Deaconess Hospital in Detroit, MI , and later graduated from Tuft’s School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Mass., receiving her DMD (Degree in Dental Medicine). Prior to opening private practice, -Dr. Davis had completed a nn<» yoar residency at Charlotte Memorial -Hospital She’s worked the Central Piedmont Community College Dental Clinic where she taught dental assisting and dental hygiene and was subsequently employed as an associate dentist with ,Dr. Murphy in the Independence Plaza. i m eiaiea, assures Dr. Davis concerning the opening of her office. She- surmised—that all—previous— experience allowed her to get “a feel for the difference between working for an institution and private practice.” Dr. Davis claims, though * she had not always planned to open a private practice it eventually appeared as an appropriate direction in which to go. _X. Aside from family dentistry and general dentistry, Dr. Davis ' projects she looks forward to doing cosmetic dentistry which involves the newly developed process of bonding “It's unbelievable the things that can be done with bonding,” asserts Davis. As opposed to other methods such as - crowns and bridges, she explains^— ‘‘Bonding is better looking, less expensive and no anesthesia is -necessary,::_____ Another addition to Dr. Davis’ practice is that her assistant, Watts, Dr. Gwyn Davis ^ | ...Moves to new location is SKUiea in sign language making it possible for Dr. Davis to success fully treat the hearing impaired. “Deaf-people have-had-problems with dentists because they could not relate what their problem was,” - explains jQt..Pavis and she hopes to amend this situation with the aid of her assistant. . f • » x ? *• - The new office consists of three operatories, a lab, waiting room reception area and office.
