Wachovia Bank
Donates $2,000
To Barber-Scotia
Wachovia Bank & Trust Co. has
donated $2,000 to Barber-Scotia Col
lege, as part of its continuing sup
port for the United Negro College
Fund.
Wachovia city executive Timothy
Crist iresented the check recently to
Bartx r-Scotia president Dr. Mable
McLc in.
The donation, Crist said, repre
sents the bank’s continuing support
for the UN(JF, by way of one of its
n member institutions.
» He said Wachovia has a strong
faith in education and believes
Barber-Scotia College makes a
worthwhile contribution to the
community.
“This contribution from Wachovia
will provide a decided acceleration
toward the goal of Barber-Scotia
College,” said McLean. “The gift
represents the investment of a new
corporation .in a community which.
has a very old college as part of its
inner life and achievement.”
The UNCF, of which Barber
Scotia is a part, raises money
annuallyforthe operating expense
of 42 historically black private
colleges and universities.
Contributions go toward scholar
ship aid, help pay faculty salaries,
buy textbooks and equipment, and
aid in other aspects of college life.
